ABOUTANIHKD BackgroundThe Aotearoa Network of Health, Knowledge and Development Trust was established in 2006. The aim of the ANIHKD is to support the International Network of Health, Knowledge and Development (INIHKD) aims and themes by supporting indigenous processes, health and health research at local national and international levels. The ANIHKD Committee oversees the Trust and membership is made up of a wide range of people from various community, health, research, and government roles. Members have been involved in the support and promotion of both the 1st Biennial gathering of the International Network of Indigenous Health Knowledge and Development Conference held in Townsville in 2003 , the 2nd Biennial Conference held in Vancouver in 2005, alongside organising and hosting the 3rd Biennial Conference held in Rotorua, New Zealand in 2007, as well as the Whanau Knowledge in Action national conference in Napier, 2008. Recent activity also involved the 4th biennial INIHKD Conference in Seattle www.iwri.org. A number of members also form part of the International Steering Committee (ISC).
